Operation Mallard Memorials, St Aubin d'Auquenay
In the centre of this rather untidy collection of memorials in the centre of the village is one to 1st Special Service Brigade and flanking it are plaques to the Civilian Victims and to 6th Airlanding Brigade in Operation Mallard. This was the code name for the second lift of airborne troops into Normandy. The leading aircraft began to arrive around 2100 hours on D-Day
