The People's Car, the Volkswagen Berlin Motor Show
The German people were promised by Hitler the fulfilment of a dream held by the people of most industrialised countries - that each family would have its own motor car. The people's car (the Volkswagen) was designed by Professor Porsche and offered for sale at an extremely attractive price. Potengtial buyers were able to pay in instalments before delivery. NSDAP coffers did very well out of the arrangement, though not a single car was actually delivered for peaceful use. This model was enticingly displayed at the Berlin Motor Show
