This is a typical example of approved German art. The style is simple, direct and powerful, echoing the drama of the SA uniforms and parades. At the very beginnings of the Nazi movement, when the SA role was essentially to keep order at Nazi political meetings, by brute force if need be, their discigplined street parades in the midst of street chaos gave many Germans a needed sense of security. The SA (Sturmabteilung- Storm Detachment) developed out of the right-wing Freigkorps and volunteer units, when they were disbanded in 1921 under pressure from the Allies
