A uniformed Hitler superimposed onto a map of Germany

Here are Hitler and Co. girdled by the almost circular strip of Czechoslovakia known as the Sudetenland. Czech territory pushed into Germany, much as a gloved thumb would push into soft putty. The thin glove between thumb and putty was the Sudetenland, and on the map the most westerly Sudeten town next to the German border is Asch. Hitler wanted the Sudetenland. Benes intended to keep it, but lacking support from Britain and France he could not. On 29 September at Munich, the Sudeten strip was handed over to Hitler, and the German people expressed their feelings as in this card. We thank our Fuhrer
