Uniformed Italian Colonial Soldiers & mule struggle uphill
The title, Sull Ambre Ed Oltre, translates as On the Amba and beyond. The card acknowledges the prowess of the XII Colonial Artillery Group, and its pack artillery, during the assault in 1936 on the Amba, an Ethiopian mountain. It seems quite likely that the Italian Colonial soldiers in the XII Group, such as those pictured here, originated from either Eritrea (an Italian province since 1890) or Somaliland (Italian since 1889)
