Ypres Battlefield Markers and signs
Over the 40 years that we have been writing about these battlefields, there has been many attempts to signpost the places of interest. The earliest were the markers erected by the Ypres League shortly after the war ended, but these, like so many since, were not maintained and have disappeared. Ypres policy since 2015 has been that The Land is the Last Witness. In pursuit of this policy the opposing front lines have been marked by the planting of trees and three clear Touring Routes with explanatory boards set out.
