The Kathleen Fare Collection

Wiltshire sisters Kathleen Fare (1901-1997) and her elder sister Doris (1899-1969) had a keen interest in sewing and other textile crafts. Kathleen kept many of their magazines, resulting in a collection that ranged in date from 1914 to the 1940s. This collection of images comes from many of those magazines, which include The Needlewoman, Stitchcraft, Fancy Needlework Illustrated, Weldon's Practical Needlework, Needlecraft Practical Journal and Bestway Sewing Secrets. Many of Alice Seipp's illustrations for the 1925 edition of Home Sewing Helps are also in this collection.
