Satirical cartoon, The Cock of the Walk

Satirical cartoon, The Cock of the Walk, Distributing His Favours. Standing on a cushion is a game cock representing the Prince of Wales. In its beak are three feathers (from his tail), the Prince's insignia. Louis Weltje, the Prince's comptroller, draws a wheelbarrow containing bunches of feathers labelled with the names of various lovers of the Prince, characteristically censored, eg To the D-ss of D-e. The contents are being arranged by George Hanger, 4th Baron Coleraine. In the background is the shop front of No. 3 Piccadilly, belonging tos W Fores, the cartoon's publisher, who had been prosecuted for selling a print apparently alluding to the Prince of Wales and Mrs Fitzherbert. Over the door of Fores shop, instead of three feathers, are the three heads of Charles James Fox, Edmund Burke and Frederick North
