Satirical cartoon, Diamond Cut Diamond
Satirical cartoon, Diamond Cut Diamond - intended as a Frontispiece to the Phamphlet. The Prince of Wales addresses Nathaniel Jefferys the jeweller, who bows obsequiously. On the table are jewel boxes, including a gift for the Lady Abbess, Mrs Fitzherbert. A screen partly obscures a shelf stuffed with unpaid bills. Jefferys became bankrupt and published a pamphlet on the Prince's non-payment of bills. The print's title, Diamond cut Diamond, alludes to a pamphlet in support of the Prince
