Satirical cartoon, The Flesh and the Spirit. At one end of a table is a fat John Bullish Englishman tucking into a joint of roast beef (flesh) and a plum pudding, while at the other end his wife scolds and nags him, worse for wear with brandy and gin (spirit). A satire on matrimony. Possibly also a reference to the Whig leader Fox and his indecision in the face of the French Revolution
