Satirical cartoon, A German Present - or - The Lovers Token. Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in hussar uniform stands next to his future father-in-law, George, Prince of Wales (later King George IV) who sits in a chair with his gouty leg resting on a cushioned stool. They both offer Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales (George's daughter) a large German sausage, a coarse allusion to the forthcoming marriage. The room is decorated in the fashionable chinoiserie style indicating it is in the Brighton Pavilion
