A long-established German women's magazine that pre-dated the National Socialist era and was subsequently adapted to the social and ideological priorities of wartime Germany. The cover features an idealised rural scene derived from the Tobis colour film Das Bad auf der Tenne ('The Bath in the Barn'), showing two young women in traditional dress against an agricultural backdrop. The image combines themes of rural life, femininity and cultural continuity that were central to official representations of German womanhood during the war years. By this stage of the Second World War, the magazine had evolved from a conventional household and fashion publication into a practical guide for women managing the demands of wartime society. Articles addressed domestic economy, child-rearing, clothing repair, knitting and sewing projects, household management, and support for husbands and sons serving at the front. Features also reflected labour shortages and social mobilisation, including guidance on women's work, care of wounded servicemen, rehabilitation, and the education of children in wartime conditions. Fashion pages continued to appear despite growing material shortages, alongside sewing patterns and advice on making and adapting garments from limited resources. The issue provides a revealing insight into the everyday experience of German women during the middle years of the war, illustrating how traditional women's magazine content was increasingly combined with themes of duty, sacrifice, self-sufficiency and service to the national community. It stands as an important example of the intersection between domestic life, consumer culture and wartime mobilisation in Germany during the National Socialist period
