Die Rote Fahne No. 7, Reich edition
Die Rote Fahne (The Red Flag), Reich edition, Special Issue No. 7, November 1938. Exceptionally rare clandestine special edition of the banned newspaper of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), issued in direct response to the anti-Jewish pogroms of November 1938, later known as Kristallnacht. Produced illegally after the Nazi suppression of the communist press, the newspaper was printed for secret distribution within Germany through underground resistance networks. Headlined Gegen die Schmach der Judenpogrome!' ('Against the disgrace of the Jewish pogroms!'), it contains a declaration by the Central Committee of the KPD condemning the organised violence against Germany's Jewish population and arguing that the attacks served to divert public attention from the regime's economic and military ambitions. The issue appeals for solidarity between German workers and persecuted Jews, denounces antisemitism as a tool of dictatorship, and calls for united resistance against National Socialism. Published only weeks after the November Pogroms, this is one of the earliest surviving contemporary opposition publications documenting and condemning the events, making it an exceptionally important piece of anti-Nazi resistance literature
