Die Sirene, No. 5, March 1937. Illustrated magazine of the Reich Air Protection League (Reichsluftschutzbund), devoted to civil defence and air-raid preparedness in National Socialist Germany. Features a striking wraparound cover depicting the Reich eagle superimposed over a map of Europe beneath the slogan 'Das Ziel der nachsten vier Jahre: Rohstoff-Freiheit fur Deutschland' ('The goal of the next four years: raw-material independence for Germany'), reflecting the objectives of the Four-Year Plan introduced in 1936. Interior articles cover air defence, naval anti-aircraft protection, gas-mask training and civil defence education. Published in Berlin
