Skorpion: Propagaanda leaflet - Side 1
Front page of the first Skorpion field propaganda leaflet, probably issued in autumn 1944. Produced for distribution to German soldiers, the leaflet introduces the newly established 'Skorpion' information service under the heading 'Willst Du die Wahrheit wissen, Kamerad, frage den 'Skorpion'!' ('If you want to know the truth, comrade, ask 'Skorpion'!'). The lead article, 'Wie steht der Krieg?' ('How stands the war?'), presents an unusually candid assessment of Germany's deteriorating military position, acknowledging Allied air superiority, the growing industrial strength of the United States, and the increasing pressure on the Eastern Front, while insisting that ultimate victory remained possible through continued resistance, new weapons and determination. Unlike conventional propaganda, the leaflet adopts a conversational tone intended to establish credibility with front-line soldiers by admitting difficulties before arguing against defeatism
