Mutterhilfen' (Motherhood Assistance) - Poster
Mutterhilfen' ('Motherhood Assistance'), illustrated educational poster produced for the Workers' Association for the Protection of Mothers, Nuremberg, c.1935. Colour lithographic poster issued under the auspices of the NSDAP Race Policy Office (Rassenpolitisches Amt), promoting the National Socialist welfare system for mothers and young families. Through a series of charming cartoon-style illustrations, the poster explains the various forms of assistance available to expectant mothers, including pregnancy advice, childbirth support, childcare, family welfare and maternity services. While presented in an accessible and reassuring manner, the poster formed part of the wider Nazi programme linking public health, family policy and population growth with racial ideology. Such material sought to encourage childbirth among those considered racially desirable while reinforcing the regime's ideal of motherhood as a patriotic duty. A rare survival illustrating the social welfare and demographic aspects of National Socialist propaganda during the mid-1930s
