Illustrirte Zeitung Leipzig. - No 5009, 3rd September 1942 - The cover addresses the three years of WW2 (1939 to 1942) and the constant expansion of German territory. Inside are articles celebrating Germany's wartime path to victory commencing with Dunkirk and the fall of France through to a large feature on the German composer Werner Egk. The cover caption reads - 1939-40, 1940-41, 1941-42. Illustrirte Zeitung Leipzig began in 1843 and was the first weekly publication in Germany and became famous for its stunning use of illustration and photography. It maintained this during the Nazis period though with a more modernist and stylised aesthetic. It covered topical events, art, film, fashion, celebrity and lifestyle. It started in 1843 and took on a pro NS stance from 1933 onwards until its closure in September 1944
