Koralle, Wochenschrift fur Unterhaltung, Wissen, Lebensfreude. - No 42, Year 7, 22nd October 1939 - The cover illustration is an example of anti-British propaganda and shows, top right in French the slogan Honi sort qui Mal y sense over the royal crest. This roughly translates as Honi is here to help you, Honi being a play on the French verb Honir, meaning to dishonour or to shame and is a slight at the British, France's ally against Germany. The caption states that John Bull, at the time a fictitious name or figure that was the personification of the British, ruled a quarter of the earth and represented some 46 million Englishmen, whereas Germany with a population of some 82 million just demanded the right for land to cultivate and live in as Adolf Hitler had claimed in a speech on the 6th October 1939.
