Photo book on the female RAD labour service, RAD
Wir Arbeitsmaiden vom Bezirk VII Sachsen, 1940 photobook on the female RAD labor service draft and is specifically about the Arbeitsdienstpflicht or obligatory labor service for young girls in Nazi Germany with a forward by Kathe Schiele who was a Department Leader in the Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD or Nazi State Labor Service) in Bezirk VII (Dresden) in Saxony. In it she explains that the book shows the daily life of young German girls during their year of Arbeitsdienstpflicht, thereby making it a lasting memory for all German girls who did their share for the Fatherland. Opposite the foreword is a map of Saxony showing the different RAD Bezirke or regions in the state of Sachsen. This edition is unusual in that it is a regionalized version for a specific RAD district making it distinct from the general edition which has the same cover and the first edition, called simply Arbeitsmaiden, which has a different cover. It was published by Zeitgeschichte-Verlag Andermann, Berlin, who also published the Heinrich Hoffmann photographic books and is therefore in the same style and size as these with 64 pages of photographs
