Walheimat - monthly issue number 5 1942

Waldheimat - Elternbrief der Erweiterten Kinderlandverschickung - Gau Steiermark, (Literally Forest Home - Parent Letter from the Extended Evacuation of Children to the Countryside - Styrian Region) - Issue 5, 1942. Illustrated magazine for parents of children who have been send to Gau Steiermark-Styria camps by Kinderlandverschickung (KLV) because of allied bombings of German cities, 12-16 pages each, very rare. The main headline reads: The Reich Youth Leader was with us. The main text partially reads: During his visit to the Gau Styria, the Reich Youth Leader was received at the Gau border by Gauleiter Uiberreither and then drove through the infirmary at Semmering (a municipality in Styria, Austria, situated near the Semmering Pass, a well-known mountain pass and now a tourist destination), where the boys and girls of the KLV camp had gathered together with the local Hitler Youth. The Kinderlandverschickung (KLV) was a Nazi-era program in Germany that involved evacuating children from cities to rural areas during World War II. While presented as a measure to protect children from wartime dangers like bombing raids, the program also had a strong ideological component, aiming to indoctrinate youth with Nazi values. An estimated 2.5 million children participated in the KLV and involved establishing KLV camps where children lived under the supervision of teachers and subjected to activities and educational programs formulated by the Hitler Jugend (Hitler Youth)
