TRIBUNAL - Interior centre spread
Kampf dem faschistischen Mordsystem! - communist propaganda poster spread from Tribunal, Berlin, 15 January 1931. Interior centre spread of the communist magazine Tribunal, published by Rote Hilfe Deutschlands. The spread was printed across the inside covers so that it could be removed and displayed as a poster. The headline reads: Kampf dem faschistischen Mordsystem! ('Fight the fascist system of murder!'). The layout presents portraits of numerous communist activists described as victims of political violence, accompanied by the slogan: Sie fielen fur uns! Denkt an ihre Frauen und Kinder! ('They fell for us! Think of their wives and children!'). The design is flanked by uniformed militant figures holding banners and lists the names of victims under headings such as 69 ermordete Proletarier ('69 murdered proletarians') and other documented casualties of political conflict. Such imagery was typical of the propaganda produced by the communist movement during the final years of the Weimar Republic, commemorating fallen activists and encouraging solidarity with imprisoned workers and their families. The poster format suggests it was intended for display in workers organisations, trade union offices or political meeting places
