Frauenwelt, German Social Democratic women's magazine, Berlin, 29 October 1932. Cover of issue no. 22 (year 9) of Frauenwelt, a women's magazine associated with the Social Democratic movement during the final years of the Weimar Republic. The illustration shows a yoiung woman raising her fist in a gesture of defiance while wearing the Three Arrows emblem of the Iron Front, an anti-extremist alliance formed in 1932 by supporters of the Social Democratic Party of Germany. The symbol represented opposition to Nazism, monarchist reaction and communism. Interior pages combined political commentary with features on women's life, fashion and social issues
